FastComet is a web hosting company located in San Francisco, California, that offers a wide range of hosting services. FastComet primarily focuses on SSD cloud hosting solutions, providing shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated cloud hosting. With hosting plans that are much cheaper than many of its competitors, FastComet is a great choice for smaller businesses that want a simple way to manage their websites and domains.

There are lots of FastComet reviews out there, with many customers praising the fast hosting speeds, security features, and amazing customer support. But does FastComet live up to its name? Our hosting experts have spent months testing all of FastComet’s plans to give you the facts and information you need to make an informed decision on choosing a cloud hosting provider. Read on for our full FastComet review.

FastComet Features

FastComet provides cloud hosting solutions for busy entrepreneurs, small business owners, and individuals. While FastComet doesn’t offer the same features like cloud hosting providers that cater to the hosting needs of large enterprises, there’s still a lot of generous offerings that can easily enhance even the most basic websites.

For our FastComet review, we wanted to provide a full rundown of FastComet’s main features and how easy they are for web managers and individuals to utilize and rollout onto their websites. While cloud hosting plans with FastComet start from as little as $2.95 per month, making it one of the cheapest cloud hosting providers out there, users still get a lot for their money. Let’s start our FastComet review by taking a look at the hosting provider’s interface and usability.

Usability

Managing multiple websites and domains might sound like a hassle, but it shouldn’t have to be. Minor gripes aside, FastComet’s UI is generally fantastic and couldn’t be any easier to navigate. Everything is easy to find and it's incredibly pleasing on the eyes, and our cloud hosting experts didn’t have any troubles with its responsiveness thanks to a super slick design. FastComet even has its custom account area and hosting portal.

Creating a FastComet account is a straightforward process thanks to clear sign-up instructions at every stage. All of FastComet’s features are laid out (we dive into these specific features further down in our Fastcomet review) which means it shouldn’t take you any longer than a couple of minutes to decide which plan is best for you. While the different types of cloud hosting names may confuse less-experienced web users, you’ll get a similar experience regardless of whether you choose WordPress hosting, Web hosting, or Magneto hosting, as all plans essentially offer the same features.

After you've chosen your plan, it’s time to connect your domain and install WordPress, although you’ll need to know FastComet’s nameservers to do this, something other Cloudways reviews have highlighted are difficult to find – and we agree. Most cloud hosting providers display this information clearly in the main account area under your settings but we just couldn’t find these details. Thankfully, after a quick phone call to FastComet’s customer service team, we were able to find the details we needed in the Home tab, which is identical to the Products tab (hence why we couldn’t find it).

Our hosting experts were also required to re-enter their login details when they opened up the cPanel in a new Google Chrome tab. Though this isn’t anything major, it can disrupt your workflow when you’re trying to work on multiple websites at once. Other FastComet reviews have pointed this out too, so this wasn’t an issue with our browser.

Performance

There’s nothing worse than people being unable to access your website due to server disruption. Thankfully, FastComet’s servers are fast, reliable, and won’t let you down. While it’s normal for cloud hosting companies to experience downtime on rare occasions, FastComet operates with a transparent 99.9% uptime commitment. Its transparency enforcing this commitment means that if FastComet ever encounters any issues with its servers, users will be informed about how these will impact your website.

Speed is one of the most important features of any website as research has shown quicker load times and better website performance leads to more sales conversions and higher levels of customer satisfaction. On average, our web hosting experts were locking in load times of just over one second, while response times averaged out at 0.65s.

A lot of these speeds are possible because FastComet is an SSD-only cloud hosting provider, which means access to files and databases is up to 300x faster in comparison to non-SSD-only cloud providers. This set-up also means you’ll never have to worry about failed hard drives and data loss. Other FastComet performances enhancing features include a high-performance PHP7 hosting environment, consisting of LiteSpeed LSAPI, APC, and OPcache, Static and Dynamic cache

Security

WordPress websites are often an easy target for hackers but FastComet has plenty of security features to keep you safe. You can install unlimited SSL certificates for life to demonstrate to visitors that your website is safe and promise that all of the information they’re transferring is fully encrypted.

If you’re an enthusiastic entrepreneur with a busy startup and you’re sending lots of emails to potential customers, it’s easy for your IP address to get flagged and future emails blocked. FastComet only uses 100% clean IPs with a solid reputation for ensuring your email communications always reach their desired targets.

FastComet also has one of the most advanced SPAM protection systems we’ve seen, with it claiming it eliminates SPAM in nearly 100% of instances and has close to zero false positives. There’s a web application firewall to protect your website from malicious attacks like SQL injection and Cross-site Scripting, while malware scans and reports will highlight and block any potential threats.

In the unlikely situation that your website is compromised, it’s reassuring to know that FastComet provides free daily backups. All of these backups are kept off-site for ultimate security and you can restore a website at the simple click of a button.

Integrations and Add-Ons

There’s a wide variety of performance-enhancing plug-ins available for WordPress and many of them can be easily installed through FastComet’s cPanel/WHM, one of the most popular control panels in the world. From its one-click marketplace, you can easily install apps like Open Real Estate, MyBB, SMF, and Yeti Force.

To help make your website faster to load, FastComet’s Cloudfare CDN caching replicates your website’s content on more than 190 servers located all over the world. This means that anyone visiting your website will load it from the server that’s closest to them. Fastcomet also includes a website builder called FastComet SiteBuilder. While this isn’t a bespoke builder but more of a template (we’ve used the same builder through other cloud hosting providers) it’s a really useful tool for creating new basic websites in less than an hour.

Customer Support

In this next part of our FastComet review, we’ll share the experiences of our hosting experts when they contacted the FastComet team for help and support. Regardless of which FastComet plan you choose, all users can access 24/7 support from experienced staff that knows what they’re talking about. That might sound obvious to hear, but we’ve had plenty of bad experiences with smaller hosting providers that are staffed by third-party customer service agents who lacked the necessary tech experience to solve many of our cloud hosting queries.

But we didn’t have any issues with FastComet; our web hosting experts found the team to be helpful and very responsive, even when we raised questions using the online ticketing system. We connected to the live chat support multiple occasions over three weeks to check how long it would take for someone to get back to us. Some websites offer 24/7 live chat but it can take ages to get connected to a staff member. With FastComet, we never wasted any time waiting in queues and always managed to speak to a real staff member within one minute.

Types of Hosting

FastComet offers three main services: SSD cloud shared hosting powered by cPanel; fully managed cloud VPS hosting and dedicated CPU servers for large enterprises. The SSD shared cloud hosting is a great choice for smaller businesses and individuals, while the VPS hosting combines the best bits of shared and dedicated hosting to give users greater control and flexibility over their servers. Finally, the dedicated CPU servers are perfect for bigger businesses with more demanding hosting requirements.

Plans and Pricing

There are three main plans for FastComet’s shared hosting, and at the time of writing, you can pick up a basic plan for just $2.99 per month. Regardless of which plan you choose, they all contain the important features (daily backups, unlimited subdomains, and a free website transfer) but upgrading your plan to a more expensive one does come with additional benefits. FastComet’s FastCloud Plus plan for $4.45 per month also includes advanced features such as multiple website transfers, free private DNS, and free global sign SSL. The FastCloud Extra plan for $5.95 per month also includes RocketBooster with 3x fewer clients per server.

Here’s how FastComet’s shared hosting plans are split:

RAM: 2GB / 3GB / 6GB

Processor (2.50HGz): 2 Cores / 4 Cores / 6 Cores

Storage: 15GB / 25GB / 35GB

Bandwidth (unique visitors per month) : 25,000 / 50,000 / 100,000

You can expect prices to increase for the fully managed VPS hosting plans. There are four main plans to choose from: the basic Cloud 1 plan at $35.97 per month; Cloud 2 plan at $41.97 per month; Cloud 3 plan at $53.97 per month and the Cloud 4 plan at $83.97 per month. Other than the key differences when it comes to RAM and processing power, all features are the same across all of FastComet’s hosting plans. We’ve pointed out the main points of difference for these plans in our FastComet review, but make sure you head to FastComet’s pricing page here for a more in-depth analysis of what’s on offer.

Here’s how FastComet’s VPS hosting plans are split:

RAM: 2GB / 4GB / 8GB / 16GB

Processor (2.50HGz): 1 Core / 2 Cores / 4 Cores / 6 Cores

Storage: 50GB / 80GB / 160GB / 320GB

Bandwidth: 2TB / 4TB / 5TB / 8TB

Finally, there’s FastComet’s fully managed and dedicated CPU servers. There are four plans to choose from: DS1 for $97.30 per month; DS2 for $101.40 per month; DS3 for $137.40 per month; and DS4 for $209.40 per month. While there are major differences between the SSD space and bandwidth from plan to plan, they all offer the same benefits.

Here’s how FastComet’s fully-managed CPU server plans are split:

RAM: 4GB / 8GB / 16GB / 32GB

Processor (AMD EPYC 7501) : 2 Cores / 4 Cores / 8 Cores / 16 Cores

Storage: 80GB / 160GB / 320GB / 640GB

Bandwidth: 4TB / 5TB / 6TB / 7TB
